13U Rep OBA Silver Medalists 2023
Our 13U Rep Athletics dominated over the weekend at their OBA tournament in Kincardine. They knocked in an impressive 77 runs over 7 games. Starting with a 10-1 win over the Essex Yellow Jackets, the boys came together as a team. Playing what may have been the longest game of the tournament, coming in at over 3 hours, they beat the Port Dover Sailors 35-11. Over the weekend, the pitchers struck out 53 batters, with strong defense behind them.
Coming into Sunday morning undefeated, Lucan Ilderton turned 3 double plays in Game 5 but were just edged out by the Kincardine Cardinals. Being one of three teams left in the mix, Lucan Ilderton was drawn to play another game against the Wyoming Wranglers. After defeating them for a second time, the Athletics were set to face Kincardine in the finals. Although they rallied in the 6th and 7th innings, Lucan Ilderton took silver in the final.
For the fans that came out to cheer, they witnessed with pride, the camaraderie and professionalism by both players and coaches. The coaching staff are to be commended for teaching the boys more than just skills on the field, but character off the field.
