We Play with Broken Bones
One broken knee cap, one broken finger and one broken ankle(assistant coach), what a week.
Congratulations to the Squirt Girls Tri-County Team on surviving a week FULL of injuries. After finding out on Wednesday that one player had broken her knee cap, the coaches started to scramble to find an extra player or two for a team that would already be short on players. THEN, on Friday night, coach finds out another player has broken her finger playing football!!! Ready to give up on the weekends tournament, we decided to push on and make it a tournament to remember. All taped up and with no other choice but to play through the pain. These girls worked hard and amazed everyone with three wins in pool play. THEN, on Sunday, all taped up again managed to play a 2.5 hour marathon match. After 3 extra innings, the home team (Lucan-Ilderton) managed to steal home on a passed ball and come out on top with a 15-14 win against Tavistock. Thank you to Alyssa (our emergency 9th player) for having the guts to steal home.
