Social Media Policy - Lucan-Ilderton Minor Baseball Association

In the digital age, where communication transcends physical boundaries, Lucan Ilderton Minor Baseball Association (LIMBA) recognizes the importance of guiding its members toward responsible and respectful online behavior. For the purposes of this policy, "online media" encompasses various social platforms including, but not limited to, X (Twitter), Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, TikTok, and others.

Conduct and Behavior:

LIMBA emphasizes that any online conduct falling short of the standards outlined in this policy will result in disciplinary actions, with serious infractions reported to the Baseball Ontario and/or Softball Ontario. Members (as defined in the LIMBA Constitution) and spectators, are expected to adhere to the following guidelines:

(a) Respectful Communication: Posting disrespectful, hateful, or insulting comments directed at LIMBA Members or registered players on personal blogs, or any online platform is strictly prohibited.

(b) Disparaging Comments: Members and registered players must refrain from posting disparaging or harmful comments mentioning LIMBA Members or registered players on their personal social media profiles.

(c) Negative Online Groups: Creating or contributing to online groups promoting negative remarks about LIMBA Members or registered players is prohibited, undermining the association's spirit of camaraderie.

(d) Harmful Media: Posting altered pictures, videos, or any media that is harmful, disrespectful, or offensive towards Members or registered players or individuals associated with the league is strictly forbidden.

(e) Cyber-Bullying/Harassment: Any form of cyber-bullying or cyber-harassment between Members or registered players, including insults, threats, spreading rumors, or posing as others, is unacceptable and will be dealt with severely.

(f) Maintaining Integrity: Members and registered players are expected to uphold the integrity of softball/baseball, refraining from any actions that bring the game or the association into disrepute.

Member and Registered Player Responsibilities:

Members and registered players are reminded that their online activities may be monitored by LIMBA Members and the Executive Committee. To reflect their status as representatives of LIMBA, Members and registered players must:

(a) 
Model Appropriate Behavior: Demonstrate respectful and positive online conduct, ensuring their actions align with LIMBA's values.

(b) Exercise Caution: Exercise discretion when posting online, refraining from sharing confidential information or engaging in activities that could harm the reputation of LIMBA, its Members or registered players.

(c) 
Report Violations: Encourage Members and registered players to report any violations of this policy promptly, fostering a safe and inclusive online environment.

Disciplinary Actions:

The LIMBA board, with input from Members as necessary, will determine disciplinary actions on a case-by-case basis. Penalties may range from warnings and suspensions to expulsion, depending on the severity of the offense.

By adhering to these guidelines, LIMBA Members and registered players contribute to a positive online atmosphere, reflecting the association's core values of respect, sportsmanship, and unity. Together, we can maintain a digital community that mirrors the excellence and integrity of Lucan-Ilderton Minor Baseball Association.
