Major Mosquito Rep Team wins Silver at OBA's
The Major Mosquito Rep Team competed in the Mosquito "D" Championship this past weekend in Chatham. The boys started their Cinderella run in the 12 Team Double-Knockout Tournament on Friday Night with a 5-4 win over Alvinston.
Saturday morning saw the A's face a very strong club from Mitchell. Coming up a little short losing 13-5, the boys were facing 3 elimination games to get to the final. Saturday afternoon vs Blenhiem the bats came alive leading to a 13-3 win. The Saturday evening game was cancelled due to rain and we had to wait until Sunday morning to play our Hwy4 rivals from Exeter. Great starting/relief pitching and solid defense lead to a 6-1 win. Our next game was vs Mount Forest. Once again solid pitching, error free defense and timely hitting gave the boys a hard fought 5-3 victory. That victory gave the boys a berth in the final against Mitchell. Again the A's had solid pitching and sound defense but the bats went quiet. Although the boys battled hard for 7 innings they couldn't match Mitchell's offense and eventually lost 7-0. All the Parents and coaches are very proud of how the team came together this past weekend to play their best baseball of the year. Congrats to Matt Heessels, Joel Morrison, Jacob Gibson, Carter "Otis" Lawrence, Ben Willis, Ben Feddema, Reid McNaughton, Peter Goudy, Jamie Rogers, Dylan Fischer, Danny York, and Blake Scatcherd for bringing home the Silver Medal.
Thanks to all the coaches and players as well as the parents and grandparents for all their support.
Mike
