As our season comes to a close, we want to acknowledge our hard working rep teams who competed at several OBA Provincial Tournaments across the region on Labour Day weekend. We want to share the successes of the following teams:
10U REP - OBA "B" Finalists - Stratford
The 10Urep boys had a great weekend of baseball! They played strong B level competition friday and saturday and headed into Sunday an amazing 4-0, beating Sudbury, Lakeshore, Stratford & Welland. This set them up against the hosts Stratford. Unfortunately our boys faced some of the best pitching in the province and fell 8-2 an 8-1. The coaching staff couldn't be more proud of this team for making it so far finishing the season with an amazing 25-16 record! We'd like to thank all of our sponsors, parents and fans who made this year possible. -
Coach Ward
12U REP OBA "B" Third Place - Leamington
After beating heavily favored St Thomas in early August to qualify for OBA’s, the 12U’s headed to Leamington to represent LDBA in the OBA B tournament. A re-draw of the bracket meant an early start on Friday, but the opportunity for a bye at the top of the draw.
Game 1 vs Simcoe who had beaten the A’s twice in the Brantford tournament earlier in the spring and came in as one of the favorites. Connor Morrison started on the mound and got 7 outs on 30 pitches, paving the way for Blake Robertson to pitch 4 and 2/3 and hold the Giants at bay. Tyson Miller led the attack on offense going 3-5 with 3 RBI’s. Game MVP Mark Greig went 2-3 with 3 RBI’s, 3 runs scored and 2 walks. The A’s came away with a convincing 13-4 victory, letting the other teams know they were a serious contender.
Game 2 vs Stratford. Griff Boersma took the hill for the A’s, going 4 2/3, giving up 5 earned with 5 K’s, and earning game MVP. James Dove finished up with 2 1/3 no-hit and scoreless innings to earn the save in a 9-7 win that gave the A’s the bye and a spot in the final four on Sunday.
Game 4 vs Welland. Finley Heffernan got the start and pitched 4 solid innings, with only 1 earned run. He also went 2-2 at the plate, earning game MVP honors. Some sloppy defense in the 6th led to 5 Welland runs and although the A’s brought the winning run to the plate in the bottom of the 7th, the final score was 8-5.
Game 3 vs Sudbury. Connor Morrison returned to the mound and gave the A’s another solid start, scattering 5 hits through 3 2/3. Finding themselves down 6-2 going into the bottom of the 5th, a huge error by the Voyageurs CF gave the A’s 2 runs, and they tacked on 4 more in the bottom of the 6th to take an 8-7 lead. James Dove locked it down in the top of the 7th to earn game MVP and the win in relief.
Final 3 - Game 5 vs Welland, with the winner earning a spot in the final against Simcoe. A quick 2 spot in the 1st gave the A’s the lead and Colton Lawrence kept them in the game through 2 2/3. Down 7-2 after 4, the A’s didn’t give up and battled back with 3 in the 5th and 3 in the 6th, and game MVP Jack Phillips’ relief appearance gave the A’s a chance to tie it in the 7th. Taking no chances, Welland brought in their flame-throwing closer and set the A’s down 1-2-3 with an immaculate inning.
Coaches, parents, and competitors were thoroughly impressed with the level of play from our 12U Reps and they should be extremely proud of a 3rd place finish at “B” OBA’s as a “D” centre. A definite confidence booster going into next year. Great season boys!!! - Coach Chuck
13U REP OBA "D" Tournament - Wyoming
Our U13’s were in Wyoming for the OBA’s and they faced some of the best teams in Ontario. The 13u rep team beat a Delhi team 16-0 in their first game. They then took on a very strong Thorold team and won over a rain delayed 2 day game 14-11. The team then played a very strong hitting Clinton team in sweltering heat and came up short. The team then had to play an early evening 3rd game against the Thorold team again. The game was back and forth and lasted over 3 hours with Thorold eventually winning out. The losses were against teams that met in the OBA finals. This team showed so much heart in how they battled all weekend long. - Coach Josh
9U REP OBA "D" Tournament - Saugeen Shores
We grew and developed so much this year and it showed in the later games!! We beat the tough teams and lost against some of the easier opponents, which in the end was what put us out. We came together as players, coaches and fans and represented our community to the fullest. - Coach Nic
11U REP OBA "D" Tournament - Sudbury
Although the 11U Rep team fell short at OBA's they still had a great season with many accomplishments.
Even though they were not able to attain as many wins as we would have liked this season, our team played some amazing games this year. We managed regular season wins against DKMB, Tincaps and North London, along with
3 ties and some other very close games. 11U Rep managed to tie a very tough Sarnia team the only time we played them. Our boys also had a tremendous game against the St. Thomas team that was undefeated in regular season play (and only had one loss all season) with a close game losing by a single run. Our coaching staff and parents are all very proud of each and every player this season. We had a great group of kids to coach and we are looking forward to the 2025 season and tryouts this fall. - Coach Rob
