Scammer Emails & Internet Safety
Scammers create fake email addresses from Executive Members such as
"Stephen Tangney President <[email protected]>"
"Kevin Hogan Secretary <[email protected]>"

They send emails to contacts listed on our Lucan Ilderton Minor Baseball website trying to trick people. They typically ask for urgent favours or purchasing gift cards. They will respond quickly and only want correspondence through email.

BE AWARE that today’s phishing attempts are no longer just poorly written emails. Attackers now use AI-generated content and Deepfakes to create highly convincing messages, voice notes, or even video calls that mimic our Executive members or staff.
If a request for sensitive information feels "urgent" or "unusual," verify it or delete.
Do not use the contact info in the message. Call the person or message a separate, known channel to confirm.

1. These are new fake emails and the Executive Member or Coach email is not compromised

2. LIMBA would not ask you to purchase anything through an email request
3. Avoid clicking any links as some could be malicious/virus
4. Check the "from" address before replying

5. When in doubt, send a new message using your own contacts to ask for clarification
