WELCOME TO LIMBA (Lucan-Ilderton Baseball)

PrintWELCOME TO LIMBA

Welcome to Lucan Ilderton Minor Baseball Association (LIMBA)

Our growing program consists of the following:

5U (Blastball) - This is a co-ed tee-ball program designed to introduce children 4-5 years old to the diamond and get them familiar with a team setting. Players will typically play 1 evening per week at 6pm in the town closest to them. We try to keep the nights consistent through the season, however the day your team plays may change week to week to match up against different teams/friends. Diamonds used are at Ilderton Heritage Park for Ilderton teams and Lucan Elm St Park for Lucan teams.

Blastball is similar to tee-ball, with fun squeaker bases and age appropriate balls. Coach(es) will introduce players to the basics of hitting, catching, throwing and base running. After a short warm up of skills, teams will set up on the field and "play" 2 innings. Each player will have a chance to hit off a tee and run the bases each inning, while the entire opposing team fields the ball with direction of the coach(es).

5U season starts the week after the Victoria Day long weekend and runs for 10 weeks. Your player will be assigned to a team and you will be contacted by a volunteer coach before the season starts. We rely heavily on parent volunteers to coach. Minimal baseball experience is necessary, so if you are interested please reach out or indicate on your child's registration. Players are provided a jersey and hat. Recommended equipment is a glove, running shoes and long pants (helmet is optional but not necessary). Safety bats and modified balls are provided for each team to use. Season wraps up at the end of July with a team party and medals organized by the league Convenor/Coaches.

Thank you to Tim Horton's for sponsoring our 5U program.

7U (Jr. Rookieball) - This is a co-ed program which continues to develop baseball skills for children 6-7 years old. At 7U a pitching machine is introduced (tee still utilized if needed), using age appropriate balls and continues to foster a good team setting for players.

LIMBA assigns players to teams based on location (Lucan area teams/Ilderton area teams), but games are played against teams from both locations. Teams will typically play 1 evening per week at 6pm.  We try to keep the nights consistent through the season, however the day your team plays may change week to week to match up against different teams/friends. Diamonds used are Ilderton Heritage Park, Granton & Denfield.

After a warm up of skills led by coaches, a modified game will be played. Concept and rules can be found HERE

7U season starts the week after the Victoria Day long weekend and runs to the end of July. Your player will be assigned to a team and you will be contacted by a volunteer coach before the season starts (early-mid May). If you are interested in coaching, please reach out or indicate intentions on your child's registration. Players are provided a jersey and hat. Recommended equipment is a glove, batting helmet, running shoes and long pants. Each team will have bats to use, however players can use their own if approved by the coach. Helmets must have a chinstrap and be worn by all players while batting and on the base paths. Season wraps up at the end of July with a team party and medals organized by the league Convenor/Coaches.
