The Lucan-Ilderton A's 15U Rep team has advanced to the OBA Final thanks to a walk off Grand Slam home run in the bottom of the 7th inning to defeat St. Marys 9-8, win the series 2 games to 1, and will now play Woodslee in the OBA Championship series.
Trailing by 3 heading into the bottom of the 7th, base hits by William Gilbert & Keaton Papple coupled with a hard earned walk by Dylan Sheaves loaded the bases and set the stage for A's catcher Ryan Walkom.
With 1 out and a 1-2 count, Walkom hit a towering home run over the left center field fence for the walk off win as the dugout erupted in celebration and mobbed Walkom as he crossed home plate.
The win Monday night followed another dramatic comeback on Sunday night, when facing elimination and down 8-0 in game 2 of the series, Lucan-Ilderton rallied to come from behind to win 11-9 forcing the deciding game 3 on Monday.
As there was no OBA tournament host this year at the 15U "D" division, teams qualified to enter into the four round elimination series. After securing a first round bye, Lucan-Ilderton 15U Rep beat the Aylmer Pirates 2 games to 0 in the second round, have eliminated a very good St. Mary's Rockies team in the 3rd round, and will now face the Woodslee Orioles in the OBA Championship series to to take place over the Labour Day weekend. The series schedule will be released on Tuesday, and the A's will play at least 1 game in Lucan at Lions Field.
